How Game Jams work

A game jam is a short event where people build a game around a theme, alone or in a team. Here is everything you need to join one or run your own.

Take part in a jam

  1. Register

Sign up while registrations are open. Some jams need the organizer's approval or an invitation, and some have an entry fee shown before you confirm.

  2. Build with a team

The theme is revealed when the jam starts. Go solo or form a team up to the size the organizer allows, and find teammates in the Teams tab.

  3. Submit your game

Publish your game page before the deadline with a description, screenshots and a link to play.

  4. Get rated

A jury and the community rate every game on the jam's criteria. By default the jury counts for 70% and the public for 30%.

  5. Results and prizes

The organizer reviews the ratings and publishes the results. Winners are notified and prizes are delivered.

Fair ratings

  • Only accounts with a verified e-mail and at least 3 days old can rate as the public.
  • Suspicious rating patterns stay out of the averages until an organizer reviews them.

Run your own jam

  • Create a jam from My jams: dates, theme, rules, team size and rating criteria.
  • Choose who can join: open, by approval or invite only, with an optional participant limit, waiting line and entry fee.
  • Build a staff: owners, admins and moderators each have their own permissions, and you can invite judges.
  • Add prizes and sponsors. Register a brand under My sponsors: once the platform approves it, you can attach it to your jams and it shows a verified mark.
  • Public jams are reviewed by the Mundo Gamer team before they are listed.
  • When judging ends, review the ratings and publish the results yourself.
